Evita est une comédie musicale co-produite par Tim Rice et Andrew Lloyd Webber, d’après la vie d’Eva Perón.Comme le précédent hit du duo, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita a commencé par un album, sorti en 1976, avec Julie Covington chantant le rôle titre. Les autres rôles ont été chantés par Paul Jones (Juan Perón), Barbara Dickson (la maîtresse), Colm Wilkinson (Che, le narrateur) et Tony Christie (Agustin Magaldi). Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina, est arrivé numéro 1 dans les charts au Royaume-Uni, en février 1977. Le single a eu un succès semblable à l’international. Another Suitcase in Another Hall a aussi été un succès.
